Luxury Lawns Newsletter – Autumn 2009

Luxury Lawns has now been trading for 8 months. Donald & Lynne Campbell would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support in our new venture. We have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge so far and look forward to continuing working with you. We have compiled this newsletter to give you some helpful hints on caring for your lawn over the winter months and to let you know about some new products we now have on offer which may be of interest to you.

Winter Lawn tips

  • Raise the height of cut slightly for your lawns last cut of the year and keep foot traffic to a minimum.
  • Winters are getting milder and growth spurts can occur, keep an eye on the length of your grass and give it a light trim if you feel it necessary.
  • Remove leaves from the lawn as disease and unwanted pests can build up under them.
  • If it’s frosty stay off the lawn. Standing on a frosty lawn can damage the leaf by snapping it and therefore damaging the plant cells.

There are a number of diseases that can come into a lawn at this time of year mainly fungal ones which change the colour of your grass (usually yellow white or pink/red). Keep an eye on your grass and if you have any concerns please give us a call for free advice and to discuss the best course of action for your lawn.

New Products

Moss and Algae control on all hard surfaces:

Fed up of moss and algae building up on your pathways, driveways, fences, decking etc? Then this could be what you are looking for.

Luxury Lawns can supply and apply MMC-PRO a dynamic combination anti-viral/anti-bacterial disinfectant, fungicide/algaecide and detergent. It kills mould, algae and moss in typically 2-4 days, and is followed by a slow cleaning action in the following weeks and months. This product will generally prevent regrowth for 9 – 12 months.

With no pressure washing or scrubbing there is no worry about washing out sand from between monoblocks.

 Prices from £15.00

Worm Control:

Casting worms can leave a lawn in a real mess, as they come to the surface they leave a heap of soil which when trampled looks really messy and makes an ideal seedbed for weeds.

Of course, if you have a worm problem in the first place you should feel complimented because it means you have a fairly active soil with good aeration and humus content.

Luxury Lawns can supply and apply a product containing carbendzamin which helps to suppress worms rather than killing them which means the worms are working deeper in your lawn and not on the surface.

Prices From: £10.00
