Golf Course Advisory Service

Donald has worked in Greenkeeping for over 18 years on both 9 and 18 hole courses - latterly he was Golf Course Manager for a championship golf course. Through these experiences Donny has built up a wealth of experience and expertise in preparing turf to the highest standard and managing a course on a tight budget. The work Donny has been involved in is extremely varied and has included construction, drainage and grow in stages and preparing the golf course for major championships.

Main areas of expertise which Donald can advise on are:-

Agronomy

Luxury Lawns would provide a detailed report on the condition of your golf course, both in writing and verbally.  Within the report we would include suggestions of action you could take to improve your course taking into consideration financial implications and golf clubs situation.

We can set up realistic annual maintenance plans.  Based on soil sample analysis, Luxury Lawns can help you to implement the most effective fertiliser programmes - this ensures no money is wasted applying the wrong feeds.

Luxury Lawns can also ensure your club is getting the best possible prices for fertilisers, top-dressings and pesticides.  This in itself can have huge financial benefits.

Drainage

Drainage issues on a golf course can be frustrating.  Luxury Lawns can help you erradicate the water logged areas by ensuring that they drain free - whether you require help with a small pocket on the course or you need plans drawn up for the entire course.  Full plans would be drawn up to allow either a contractor to carry out the work for you or, in many cases, for your in house team of green staff to implement themselves.

Risk Assessment and Health and Safety Policy

Health and safety of staff and golfers is an extremely important issue and it is vital that golf courses have all the required policies and paper work in place.  Luxury Lawns can help with all your golf course risk assessments whether it is a full course assessement or a work shed assessment.  No job is too big or too small.

Appraising, Training and Assessing Staff

Luxury Lawns can provide training and assessment of any individual to use golf course machinery.  Perhaps you are employing an Apprentice Greenkeeper and need someone with the official A1 Assessment certificate to assess them?  Donny is a qualified assessor and can ensure that this is completed.

Short Term Additional Staffing

Luxury Lawns may be able to provide short term staff cover when your golf course requires it.  Perhpas additional greenkeepers are required to prepare the course to the highest standard for a competition or maybe a member of staff is on holiday/off sick.  Contact us to discuss your requirements further.

Testimonials

‘The Challenge Tour held the Scottish Challenge event at Macdonald Cardrona Hotel Golf and Country Club in 2007 and 2008, and Donny undertook a first class effort in developing and maintaining the golf course to an excellent Championship standard. Donny’s management skills and work efficiency were evident during the working relationship with the Tour, and were crucial in the running of a top class golf event.’
